French Press Recipe

If you have noticed, I have shared a several recipes on IG @balancemeoutnow that use coffee brewed in a French Press. If you like full bodied and rich coffee, French Press is the way to go. I will share my recipe that I like to use for when I like to drink it black. Below the recipe, I will give you some tips that will take your coffee from good to pro.

Recipe by Nancy Guzman (for two)

  • 28g Koru Espresso Beans (If you don't have a scale use about 1/4 Cup)

  • 16oz Water (200F)

  1. Heat up your water. The easiest way to do this, if you don't have a thermometer, is to boil the water and let it sit for one minute max.

  2. While your water heats up, grind your coffee beans (medium coarse, similar to rock salt).

  3. Add your freshly ground beans into the French Press and pour in the water

  4. Set a timer for 4 minutes.

  5. As soon as your timer goes off, press down.

  6. Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy!

PRO TIPS

  1. Pour in HOT water into your French Press to "warm it up" before adding your coffee grounds, then throw the water out. This helps your French Press keep your coffee at the ideal temperature for full bodied flavor.

  2. Once you add your coffee, pour in enough water to cover the coffee. Wait 30 seconds before pouring in the rest of your water. Trust me on this.

  3. Do not use tap water! Yes, I am yelling. Only use filtered water or reverse osmosis water or even alkaline water. They are far better choices to avoid bitterness.

  4. Before pouring your coffee into your mug, warm it up as you warmed up the French Press.
